SOLIDWORKS Connected + Simulation packages

In the latest update of the platform (R2024x FD01) it is now possible to combine the power of SOLIDWORKS Connected with regular SOLIDWORKS Simulation packages.

This means that if you have a Simulation Standard, Professional or Premium license, these are now accessible in SOLIDWORKS Connected.

How do you get access to your Simulation packages in SOLIDWORKS Connected?

After installing or upgrading SOLIDWORKS Connected to R2024x FD01, you specify the serial numbers in the Add SOLIDWORKS Desktop Licenses app, which is available in the SOLIDWORKS Connected installation directory.

Browse to the <SOLIDWORKS Connected installation directory>\setup\i386.
The default path is: C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE\SOLIDWORKS\setup\i386

Click addsswxlicenses.exe.

In the app, enter the SOLIDWORKS Simulation serial number or the SOLIDWORKS Motion serial number. If you have a SolidNetwork (SNL) license, also enter the port@server for the license server.

Click Ok.

The add-ins load the next time you start SOLIDWORKS Connected. Follow the prompts to activate the serial numbers.
If SOLIDWORKS doesn’t automatically prompt you to activate the licenses, you can do it manually from within SOLIDWORKS:

You can also deactivate the licenses in SOLIDWORKS Connected from Help > Licenses > Deactivate.

Important note:
If the admin has assigned the 3DEXPERIENCE Simulation Designer (XSM-OC) role to a user, this will override any SOLIDWORKS desktop Simulation license you have added. If you intend to use a SOLIDWORKS Simulation license, the admin should unassign the 3DEXPERIENCE Simulation Designer (XSM-OC) role from the user.

Congratulations! You now have access to your Simulation packages through SOLIDWORKS Connected!

Future Improvements:

  • Ability to activate and run SOLIDWORKS Simulation license or SOLIDWORKS Motion. license even if 3DEXPERIENCE Simulation Designer (XSM-OC) role is assigned to the user.
  • Support SOLIDWORKS Flow and Plastics license with 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS roles.
