Sometimes it is necessary to recreate the PDM Local vault, e.g. PDM Explorer behaves abnormally on one workstation, there is a particular slowness on the machine, or after Windows 10 has been updated to the Windows 11 operating system the PDM vault has performance issues.
The same instructions apply to both SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional and PDM Standard users.
Recreating the PDM local vault:
1. Check In for all files on the vauolt
2. On top of the Vault, select "Delete File Vault View" from RMB menu
If all files were checked in, i.e. there is no warning about reserved files in the local vault, you can directly select "Delete the cached file vault files and Folders from the local hard disk"
If there were checked out files in the vault, or you want a backup of the vault, select
"Leave the local contents of the file vault view as normal files and folders" so it remains as a normal "yellow" Windows folder on the computer.
And rename this remaining folder to another name (re-creating the vault will not succeed if a folder with the same name already exists)
3. Open Windows Registry
4. Delete/Verify that the vault information is no longer existing on these three registry paths:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\Applications\PDMWorks Enterprise\Vaults
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\Applications\PDMWorks Enterprise\Databases
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SolidWorks\Applications\PDMWorks Enterprise\Databases
5. Reboot the workstation
6. Create the Local vault again, the easiest way is through the Administrator tool, log in to the vault, and "Create Local view" from the mouse menu on the Vault:
7. And login to the vault, now you have a fresh new local vault.
