When workstation is connected to internet, license can be deactivated easily by using the option "Automatically over the internet".
If workstation has no internet connection (due to security reasons for example), license needs to be deactivated manually by using another workstation that is connected to internet.
To be able to deactivate license manually you will need...
- Additional workstation that is connected to internet
- Transferable storage device (USB hard drive or memory stick) or shared intranet folder to save files
This is how you can deactivate SOLIDWORKS license in the workstation that has no internet connection:
1. Select the "Help" icon from upper right corner of SOLIDWORKS window and select "Licenses" and then "Deactivate".
2. SOLIDWORKS prompts to deactivate the license.
- Press "Select All"
- Choose the option "Manually via e-mail"
- Type your email address
- Press the "Next" button
3. Press the "Save" button and save the *.txt file to external USB harddrive, memory stick or shared intranet folder.
NOTE: Do not change the filename of the *.txt file.
4. Move to another workstation that is connected to internet. Plug in the external USB hard drive or memory stick where you saved the *.txt file. If you saved the file to shared intranet folder, make sure that you can access that folder in this workstation.
5. Email this *.txt file to email address activation@solidworks.com.
NOTE: Email topic is freely selectable. Do not type any text in the email besides the topic. You can also use your personal email.
6. Check you email (check the "Junk Mail" folder as well). You should receive a response email containing response *.txt file as attachment immediately. Save the *.txt file to external USB hard drive, memory stick or shared intranet folder. Do not change the filename of the *.txt file this time either.
7. Move back to original workstation that is connected to internet. Plug in the external USB hard drive or memory stick where you saved the *.txt file. If you saved the file to shared intranet folder, make sure that you can still access that folder in this workstation.
8. Workstation should still have "SOLIDWORKS Product Activation" window active. Press the "Open" button and browse to select the *.txt file (that you saved in step 6) from external USB hard drive, memory stick or shared intranet folder.
9. SOLIDWORKS gives the notification "Deactivation Succeeded". Press the "Finish" button.
SOLIDWORKS license is now deactivated successfully in this workstation that is not connected to internet.
