How to Install SOLIDWORKS

To install SolidWorks, you need a license code and the installer.

The installer (33BM) can be downloaded from:

-my.solidworks.com if you have an account here with license maintenance.

-our homepage https://support.plmgroup.eu/hc/en-us/articles/360016211338-Downloads

Select year version and preferably the latest Service Pack (SP)

Place this installer somewhere you want the installation files.

The files are normally located here: C:\Users\"user"\Documents\SOLIDWORKS Downloads\

-Note that there may be several folders named Documents. Often it is a folder located in OneDrive. Try to avoid this one. This can be set so that the files are not left online, but only in the cloud. Then it takes time to download the files.

If you can copy over the original files (17GB) from a server or another PC, then it is easiest.

Start the installation.

A message now appears: "A Windows reboot is pending from a previous installation." This message always appears. But it's good to have an updated machine.

-Check that the files end up where you want them.

If you want a full file set, select "Download and share" on the first page (recommended). Then start the actual installation from this file set. Then SW has an easier time finding the files. Right-click Setup and select Install as Administrator.

NOTE! If your "User Account Control" is set too high, you might get problem with the installation. Before you start the installation, search for "User Account Control" in Windows and launch the application. Drag it to a minimum ("Never Notify").

The installation manual can be found here: https://files.solidworks.com/Supportfiles/SW_Installation_Guide/2022/English/install_guide.pdf

After installation it is here: C: \ Program Files \ SOLIDWORKSxxxx \ SolidWorks \ lang \ english \ install_guide.pdf

You can find information about certified graphics cards and drivers along with other system requirements at solidworks.com/sw/support/hardware.html
