System resources are running low

"System resources are running low" warning message may be memory, or GDI or User Process Handle.

Check the memory with Task Manager and Performance.

If you have enough memory, I would recommend increasing the settings on GDI Handle and User Process Handle.

You can add two columns in the Task Manager - Details: GDI objects and User objects to view SolidWorks resource usage with the memory usage. Right-click on the tab under Details and add Select Columns.

Here is the recipe for increasing GDI and also increasing the User Process Handle.

Change the values in Regedit:

GDI object: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Windows \

GDIProcessHandleQuota (max 65,536) Set this to 35,000 (decimal).

USERProcessHandleQuota (between 200 and 18,000) (max 65,536) set this to 18,000 (decimal).

GDI object: Standard is 10,000, user objects: Standard is 10,000

This should usually be enough. But there are a few other places in the registry where this may changes:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows GDIProcessHandleQuota (35 000 default 10 000) and

USERProcessHandleQuota (18 000 default 10 000).
