3DEXPERIENCE Tutorial: Adding Thumbnails to 3DEXPERIENCE Web Applications

In this guide we will go through how to show thumbnails for Assemblies, Parts and Drawings on 3DEXPERIENCE platform, this makes it easier to identify how the object looks in the platform. This guide handles three applications, since the process for adding thumbnails to each of these is a bit different.

Bookmark Editor

Bookmark Editor is the main "folder" structure application in 3DEXPERIENCE and finding items in it can be significantly more efficient by having thumbnails visible on list.

The fastest way to make thumbnails visible in Bookmark Editor is simply setting on the thumbnail mode:

However, this makes the icons quite large and also limits what attribute rows you can see from the product.

Let's see how we can make thumbnails available to tree view:

1. Activate Tree view-mode

2. Move to Tree list View Options

3. Activate thumbnails from thumbnail icon

4. Find thumbnail from the list and move it as first object on the tree view

NOTE! Pinned items may prevent it from moving all way to the top, remove pinning to achieve this result

You can order the list from this menu as you want and you can pin and unpin items as you like, I prefer not have anything pinned and have everything in the order I like them to be.

5. Apply changes from the "Close"-button on right bottom corner and observe the results

Product Explorer

Product Explorer is the most basic way to browse product structures in platform, usually this application is used concurrently with 3D Navigate, where the assembly product can be selected from the 3D Navigate, but it is also good to have thumbnails in the Product Stucture Tree to make finding certain items easier.

1. Open a product in Product Structure Explorer

2. Go to Tree List View Options

(Right click on the header row)

3. Activate thumbnails from thumbnail icon

4. Find thumbnail from the list and move it as first object on the tree view

NOTE! Pinned items may prevent it from moving all way to the top, remove pinning to achieve this result

Engineering Release

Engineering Release is a powerful application for managing products, it might sometimes be hard to identify products from the list without thumbnails, so let's soo how we can make those available here too.

1. Open a Product to Engineering Release

2. Go to Attributes Management

3. Find the "Thumbnail" from list and activate it

4. Go to Custom Views

5. Move the thumbnails as top item on the view

NOTE! Pinned items may prevent it from moving all way to the top, remove pinning to achieve this result
