SOLIDWORKS RX is a separate tool used for SOLIDWORKS diagnostics. You might have an issue with SOLIDWORKS crashing, hanging, lagging etc. In this instruction we will instruct you to use two of SOLIDWORKS safe modes to find the possible reason for your SOLIDWORKS issue.
Safe modes that can be used are:
- Software OpenGL mode - Used for testing if the issue is caused by graphics card or its driver
- "Bypassing the Tools/Options settings" mode - Used for testing if the issue is caused by SOLIDWORKS settings
To launch SOLIDWORKS in those safe modes, launch SOLIDWORKS RX and stay on "Home" tab.
How to launch SOLIDWORKS in Software OpenGL mode:
1. Close SOLIDWORKS.
2. Launch SOLIDWORKS RX and select the option "Click here to launch SOLIDWORKS in Software OpenGL mode".
3. Try to reproduce the issue. For example if you previously had an issue with SOLIDWORKS crashing/hanging/lagging in some certain situation, do the issue appear now?
- If the issue does not appear now, the issue is caused by graphics card or its driver. In that case, let PLM Group Support know it so that we can find out the possible solution. Quite often the solution is to change the graphics card driver.
- If the issue still appears, the the issue is likely not related to graphics card or its driver.
How to launch SOLIDWORKS while bypassing the Tools/Options settings:
1. Close SOLIDWORKS.
2. Launch SOLIDWORKS RX and select the option "Click here to launch SOLIDWORKS while bypassing the Tools/Options settings".
3. Try to reproduce the issue. SOLIDWORKS is now using default "factory settings" temporarily.
- If the issue does not appear now, the issue is caused by your settings that somehow differ from default settings. In that case, let PLM Group Support know it so that we can try to find the setting(s) that causes the issue.
- If the issue still appears, the the issue is likely not related to any SOLIDWORKS settings.
