3DEXPERIENCE: How to control file revision

How to control file revision with Bookmark Editor in 3DEXPERIENCE

Through 3DEXPERIENCE, you can control file revisions without access to SolidWorks.

In a previous blog post, we’ve seen how it is possible to increase the revision of a file through the 3DEXPERIENCE add-in in SolidWorks. In this blog post, I will show you how to do this directly on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, i.e. without having to launch SolidWorks.

On the 3DEXPERIENCE platform there are a number of different applications that can be used to edit the revision of files, for example Collaborative Lifecycle or Engineering Release, but here I’ll show you how it can be done through the Bookmark Editor application.

When in Bookmark Editor, you have a toolbar at the bottom of the window with multiple tabs, each containing several different tools. One tab is called “Lifecycle” and on that tab you have tools to change the maturity of a file or, in this case, create a new revision.

Click on the icon third from the left looking like a single vertical line with a “+” right next to it.

A new dialogue will appear in which the new revision will be visible. Here you can also enter a revision comment but it’s not mandatory.

When done, simply click “Revise” and the file revision will be updated.
