Unassigning Existing Roles and Assigning New SOLIDWORKS Design Roles

Please follow the steps-by-step instructions in the exact order listed in this guide. Completing them correctly is required to continue using SOLIDWORKS Design without interruption.

For Account Administrators

1. Log in to your 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

2. From the 3DCompass, under the “Me” section, locate and open the Platform Manager role, then click Members Control Center

3. Under Members, click the (i) icon next to each user and select View Roles Granted.

4. Unassign the following roles by clearing the checkbox next to each one:

  • 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Standard, Professional, or Premium
  • 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Simulation Designer (these simulation capabilities are now included within the SOLIDWORKS Design Premium role)
  • 3D Creator
  • 3D Sculptor
  • Manufacturing Definition Creator
  • NC Shop Floor Programmer (these machining capabilities are now included within all SOLIDWORKS Design roles)

Note: We highly recommend unassigning the roles before they expire.

To successfully unassign a role:

  • The role must be unlocked, and
  • The user must not be actively using the product and must be logged out for at least two hours.

Please keep in mind:

  • All SOLIDWORKS roles have a 1-day lock period.
  • Other platform roles (e.g., NC Shop Floor Programmer) have a 30-day lock period.

5. Click View All, then search for and assign the appropriate SOLIDWORKS Design role
(e.g., SOLIDWORKS Design Premium).

No action is needed for the 3DSwymer and Collaborative Industry Innovator roles —
they will be automatically reassigned after the transition.

For Members / Users

Once your administrator completes the unassignment steps:

1. Log in to your 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

2. Open the 3DCompass, and under the “Me” section, locate your SOLIDWORKS Design role (e.g., SOLIDWORKS Design Premium)
