Tokens in SOLIDWORKS and Simulia

Tokens are used for various operations inside both SOLIDWORKS and the simulation software Simulia.

In SOLIDWORKS:

With the introduction of Virtual Assistants (AI) inside SOLIDWORKS connected to the 3DExperience Platform, tokens are now required to make the most of their capabilities.

These tokens are called “Blue tokens” and the amount available can be seen by the Company’s 3DExperience Admin in the bottom of the “Members” tab on the Platform.

Depending on the task asked of the Virtual Assistant, different amounts of tokens are consumed in the process:

Guidance Costs Less: Quick guidance and best practice answers require fewer resources than generative or analytical tasks, such as model conversion or performance analysis.

Value-Based Scaling: The bigger and more substantial the outcome, the more tokens it utilizes.

In Simulia:

The simulation software Simulia operates with two distinctive systems: Tokens and credits.

As normal simulation software, Simulia can run calculations locally on your PC, limiting other work while it processes.

With tokens and credits for Simulia, it is possible to leverage extra calculation power through the Cloud computing (cores) in 3DExperience, making the calculation go faster and also free up the PC for other tasks.

Simulia credits are spent when using the extra cores and doesn’t replenish automatically – More will have to bought as needed.

Simulia tokens are not spent when using the extra cores – Instead they are “checked out” of the 3DExperience Platform while the calculation runs and then returned afterwards, ready for another job.
