Get Started With Your 3DEXPERIENCE Product

Use the guide below when installing apps from any of the following 3DEXPERIENCE Roles:s

  • Any CATIA role
  • 3DEXPERIENCE Draftsight (DraftSight Connected
  • Any SIMULIA role
  • Any other 3DEXPERIENCE role requiring local installation


Installing Apps that require local installation (ex. SOLIDWORKS Connected, DraftSight Connected, Product Finder, Part Design etc.) 

Before installation:

First, please make sure that your company's 3DEXPERIENCE Platform has been activated, and that the role(s) you want to install apps from have been assigned to your user on the platform.

If you are unsure of how to do this, please reach out to your Platform Admin and have him/her go through Step 1 and Step 2 in this guide: 3DEXPERIENCE - Quick Start Guide for Admins.

Second, if you are not an admin on your Company's platform, please make sure that you have accepted your invitation to your Company's platform. If you are unsure of how to do this, please go through Step 1 in this guide: 3DEXPERIENCE - Quick Start Guide for Users.


Install an app from a 3DEXPERIENCE role.
The guide below takes example in the installation of the app SOLIDWORKS Connected from the 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS role. The process however, is the same for all other apps requiring local installation.

Start by logging on your Company's 3DEXPERIENCE platform by using the link below


Fill out your login information using your 3DEXPERIENCE ID:

If you don't have a 3DEXPERIENCE ID, create one using the Create your 3DEXPERIENCE ID button and follow STEP 1 IN THIS GUIDE.

After logging in with your 3DEXPERIENCE ID click on the Compass button (big blue round button on the top left)
In the list of roles, choose the role from which you want to install an app (In this example 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Premium is the role):


In the list of apps, click on the app you want to install (In this example SOLIDWORKS Connected is the app to install). Your 3DEXPERIENCE Platform will then check if the app is installed. To start the installation click on "Install Now":


If this is the first 3DEXPERIENCE app you are installing, the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher will install first. On the pop-up window click the "Download 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher" button and run the downloaded executable afterwards - Leave the pop-up window open:


The Setup of 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher will start, click throught the installation wizard to finish the installation:


After the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher installation finishes return to your browser and press "Continue" to move on:


This will bring you back to the choice “Install Now”:


After Pressing “Install Now”, In the next step, click on “Install All Roles Containing SOLIDWORKS Connected”:


The Installer will then launch.


If this is the first PC installing any 3DEXPERIENCE-related software in your company, you should run the Cloud Eligibility Checker to make sure your PC is ready, and it has contact with the 3DEXPERIENCE Servers.


Choose the installation directory. Use the default directory.


Continue the installation by clicking through any following windows by clicking "Next". When the installation progress bar appears, wait for the installation to finish. When the installation has finished click "Close":


As soon as the installation is done, you are ready to use the installed app. The app can be launched from the role found in the 3DCompass when you are logged into the platform:
