Installing 3DEXPERIENCE Connector (Design with SOLIDWORKS) for SOLIDWORKS Desktop version

What is 3DEXPERIENCE Connector and why do I need it?

If you have 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud Services with your SOLIDWORKS Desktop product, you will need to install a separate Add-in to your SOLIDWORKS to make it connect to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform directly inside your SOLIDWORKS. Without this Add-in you are unable to save your SOLIDWORKS designs to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform!

Please note that before activating the 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud Services for your SOLIDWORKS Desktop product, make sure you have installed it on your machine first using your serial number!

Installing the Connector

Before installation:

First, please make sure that your company's 3DEXPERIENCE Platform has been activated, and that the Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS-role has been assigned to the users that need to install the Connector Add-in.

If you are unsure of how to do this, please reach out to your Platform Admin and have him/her go through Step 1 and Step 2 in this guide: 3DEXPERIENCE - Quick Start Guide for Admins.

Second, if you are not an admin on your Company's platform, please make sure that you have accepted your invitation to your Company's platform. If you are unsure of how to do this, please go through Step 1 in this guide: 3DEXPERIENCE - Quick Start Guide for Users.

The 3DEXPERIENCE Connector for SOLIDWORKS Desktop is granted to users by the "Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS"-role on the platform, the role can be found by going to the compass on the top left corner of 3DEXPERIENCE.

Inside the role, you find the "Design with SOLIDWORKS"-application, this button launches a installer on your PC that allows you to install the 3DEXPERIENCE Connector-add in to your SOLIDWORKS.
