3DExperience Credentials and their meaning

There are a few different credentials which decides what each user can do on the 3DExperience platform.

First there is the Platform credentials that is set when each user is invited to the platform and then there is the credentials that is set when inviting a user to a collaborative space.

Therefor in this article we will explain the differences between all credentials and when to use them.

Platform Credentials

Below you will find a brief description what each Platform Credential do.

If you want to know more about the differences between Administrator and Member on the platform, we have a separate article about that, and it is called Platform Manager vs User in 3DExperience.

Administrator

As an administrator you get access to the Platform Manager role which lets you manage and edit the platform and its users. Will also use the platform just like a member.

Member

Have access to the roles that has been assigned to them and will be the main users of the platform.

Can get more privileges if they have been granted other Credentials in Collaborative Spaces.

External

Used when inviting a user that is not hired by the company but will help in projects, for example a consultant.

Why use External?

That is because there are some places on the platform that depends if the user is Member or External.

For example, for Communities you can turn off the access for External users.

Collaborative Space Credentials

In the graph below you will see what each credential can do in each state for the most common features and actions.

This is to give you a quick overview of how these credentials work.

If you are interested into going deeper in what each credential can do, then below the graph you will find links to the help page for each credential where you will find more information.

The graph is applicable for the Platforms Default Settings, so these can vary if the platform has changed regarding these rights.
